Little Brother book report

Author: Cory Doctorow

Report by: Matt Dagenais

Little Brother takes place in the near future when terrorists blow up the Bay Bridge in beautiful San Francisco. Talented, young, smart, teen hacker Marcus and his friends are cutting school to play an exhilarating game, when they are arrested by Homeland Security and accused of being terrorists.  They are interrogated and for a week. Finally released, Marcus vows to fight the DHS, which has turned San Francisco into a virtual police state.
Little Brother is a very exciting, breathtaking, mind-altering book. This book is perfect for a male teen as there is action suspense and a little mystery.  Author Cory Doctorow has written a book that you can become a part of.  I myself when reading this book felt like I was there along side Marcus as one of his friends trying to help fight the DHS. This book raises, in the most compelling way, issues of free speech, freedom vs. security, the rights of the government and the governed, and more. Author Cory Doctorow uses slang language to really set the mood and it gives you more of an idea about what the characters are like.  Overall I recommend this book to all teen boys that like action, suspense and, mystery.
